The Bombe (domed) Fabric-Covered Button Cover Setting Dies form a smooth dome and lock the fabric to the shell, so you get crisp edges and a couture finish. Moreover, the spring-loaded bottom die keeps the shell centered, which speeds button fabric covering and reduces waste. How it works First, cut a fabric circle with MICRON® cutting dies. Next, place the button backer in the bottom die (wire-eye/shank or flat-back). Then, lay the fabric wrong side up in the top die, set the aluminum shell (cup-side up) on the fabric, bring dies together, flip, and press on the MD-1.As a result, the wrap is tight and permanent—no glue required. Construction & compatibility Precision-machined, hardened steel; polished bores protect delicate fabrics. Quick changeover on the MD-1 manual button cover machine. Use with matching shells & backs (wire-eye/shank or flat-back).
